This hip neighborhood has lots to offer to-be-weds.
The word is out: Grandview Heights is officially a contender for couples focused on hosting an ultra-local wedding. Don’t let its small size fool you; the city just northwest of Downtown has a wealth of options and vendors to help you have the wedding of your dreams.
We’ve covered the Grand Event Center before, but suffice to say that it is the area’s premier choice for wedding receptions for a reason. From phenomenal food to excellent service, the centrally located, modern venue in the newly developed Grandview Yard leaves little to be desired.
Also in Grandview Yard are two new hotels. The Courtyard by Marriott Columbus/OSU shares a courtyard with the Grand Event Center and is the perfect no-travel spot to house overnight guests at your event. And just a short walk northwest of the two venues is Hyatt Place Columbus/OSU.
Grandview is home to a number of other vendors of note, many of which are longtime favorites of us here at Columbus Weddings. Case in point: Sadie Baby Sweets, maker of cake pops and other (beautiful) sweet treats, opened its first storefront on Third Avenue just last year. There’s also Petals & Leaves, a fabulous florist on Goodale Boulevard; Peabody Papers on Grandview Avenue for your stationery needs; and The Candle Lab, Krema Nut Co., Anthony Thomas Candies and Glenn Avenue Soap Co. for fun and unique guest favors or wedding party gifts.
If you’re one to think outside the box, Grandview’s many boutiques and consignment shops provide limitless inspiration for your pre-wedding and wedding-day attire. Take Halle Kost, for example: the Columbus Weddings bride went to Grandview’s Thread for part of her unconventional—and totally stunning—bridal ensemble.
Other shops we love? The Smithery for jewelry; Chapel Hill Florist; and Vernacular Home, Fleurish Home and Elm & Iron for registry items. (Pro tip: Use a universal site like MyRegistry.com to compile items from stores that don’t have an in-house registry system.)
Columbus Brew Adventures and Columbus Food Adventures both offer tours in the area, which are perfect to fill guests’ spare time or as a different option for your bachelor or bachelorette party. And a bevy of stellar restaurants—like Watershed Kitchen & Bar, named by our sister magazine Columbus Monthly as a best restaurant in the city last year, plus Third & Hollywood, the new Eddie George’s Grille 27, Grandview Café and Hofbräuhaus Columbus—are ideal for everything from your shower to your rehearsal dinner or Sunday brunch.
